Signal Flags
In 1855, Great Britain established the International Code of Signals. The code evolved over time to designate a flag design to correspond with letters A to Z and digits 0 through 9, and it is used universally.
Especially old flags will be made from natural fibers (cotton, or, rarer still, wool) and have a slightly yellowed look.
