Hong Kong, micro-apartments

Hong Kong is among the top-five most crowded and expensive cities in the world. The average home price in the area rose in 2014 to a staggering $1,900 per square foot, pricing many long-term residents out of the area.

As a result, developers began producing micro-apartments of 200 or 300 square feet for those who were willing to sacrifice space for location. For years, the trend has held steady, leading hundreds of thousands of residents to call these tiny spaces home.
