Creaks have nothing to do with the age of the house
Well, many people who hear creaks believe that it is because of the age of the house or the old materials, but that does not seem to be the case. So, according to many home experts, these sounds are the effect of temperature and humidity changes in your house, because wood expands or contracts in such conditions.
“Wood is porous and can expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity. During the wintertime, wood flooring tends to contract, and in the summer, it often expands,” says Alex Berezowski, owner and general manager of The Foundation Experts.
