You can use baking soda to clean the carpets

Well, it seems that baking soda can be really dangerous for your carpets. In most cases, baking soda will absorb the odor, but once it is on your carpet, it will stay for a very long time. So, you wonít be able to get rid of it even if you vacuum your carpet a lot.†

“While sprinkling baking soda directly on your carpet can help to absorb unwanted odors, it does not completely remove the actual source of the odor, and therefore only masks the odor for a short period of time,” explains Joshua Miller, director of technical training at Rainbow International, a Neighborly company.

If you want to fix this problem, you should wash your carpets at least once a year.
