The Reverse Hanger Hack
When it comes to decluttering your wardrobe it can be overwhelming to decide on what should be kept and what should be removed.
Often clothing has sentimental value, or there’s the all too common excuse of potentially needing the item for a special, yet unspecified, occasion.
At the start of the new year, Anita employs a simple trick to let her know what she should keep, sell, donate or throw out: She hangs up all her clothing with the hangers facing the opposite way.
‘You are going to take your clothes and get your hangers and reverse them so the open end of your hanger is now facing outwards. Turn them from the inside out,’ she said on a Facebook video.
‘Every time you wear a piece of clothing now – say I want to wear this red top – I am going to take it off and wear it and when I put it back I put it with the open end back to normal.’
Ms Birges urges everyone to follow the technique and see how much of a difference it makes to their organization in six months.
‘In six months I am going to know exactly what I’ve worn. Everything that hasn’t been turned around will be donated or sold,’ she said.
