Whip a cutlery drawer into shape in 10 minutes
The cutlery drawer tends to be a space where excess kitchen items can quickly build up meaning it doesn’t take long for it to become messy and disorganized.
While dealing with this might seem like an arduous task, Anita said if you’ve got a spare 10 minutes you can sort this space with minimal fuss.
To do this, she recommends working with two containers and a clear bench space. You need both for the decluttering process.
Then take everything out, putting items you want to keep in one and items you want to throw away in another.
Her trick when decluttering is to move quickly and while doing so to ask yourself if you have double ups or if the item is broken or rusted.
‘Providing you’re serious about decluttering and creating a slower, simpler home, your initial answer is going to be right. So don’t second-guess yourself. And if in doubt – chuck it out (or give it away),’ she said.
Once this is done, give the drawer a thorough clean with some white vinegar and a clean cloth. Make sure it’s also been properly dried.
Before you put the items you’re keeping back inside the drawer, group these with similar items.
Also, she said to consider investing in drawer dividers so you can create more than one area to place things within the one drawer.
‘I can guarantee you’ll be shocked at how much you can clear out in 10 minutes, and what a difference it will make to the way you feel in your home.’
