Bedding

Well, we have to admit that it would be pretty terrifying to sit in your beloved bed and imagine how many microbes and mites are there with you, especially if it is been a long time since you have washed them.

There are many studies that show the fact that human beings can produce about 26 gallons of sweat in bed annually. And guess what? Bacteria, fungi, mites and viruses love to grow and multiply in moisture areas and out bed is perfect for it. Moreover, believe it or not, our bedding is exposed to various body excretions or oils, animal organisms or even food particles – if you eat in bed, of course.

So, if you want to protect yourself from mites and different microbes that can cause severe diseases and infections you have to wash your bedding often. “Studies have shown that many people wash bedding and pillowcases only once or twice a month at most. The reality is, though, that in order to prevent bacteria growth, bedding should be washed every week at a minimum. Most people do laundry once a week already, so it might be helpful to simply add one extra load to your usual routine for bedding,” says Dr. Nader.

Your health should always be your preoccupation, especially when the coronavirus outbreak affects everyone and causes serious complications among older people. So stay safe and follow all the hygiene rules recommended by specialists.
