Your underwear
There are two categories of people: those who change their underwear every morning (or night, or both) and people to whom this habit is unknown. For people who put on a clean pair of underwear often: keep up the good work! For people in the second category, I will continue to explain why this is not good for their health. So, if you do not change your underwear every single day you can get a lot of infections and develop different skin irritation or other diseases. “You can also end up with fungi that causes jock itch, whether you’re a man or woman,” Dr. Bailey says.
Whether it is a sensitive subject for us or not, we have to debate this issue, because intimate hygiene is one of the most important things we need to take care of if we want to be healthy.
“Underpants accumulate sweat, germs, and secretions, not to mention occasional fecal material,” says Bailey. “It’s not a pretty subject to discuss, but underpants, as well as the skin, require daily hygiene.”
When you wash your underwear it is recommended to use hot water to make sure you killed the microbes. Your washing machine has this function. You should also use hypoallergenic detergent and laundry soap without fragrance. “If detergent residue, fragrance, or fabric softener is left in the underwear fabric, it can be transferred to the skin, which can then become irritated,” said Dr. Bailey.
